Christine Zavod
Christine Zavod has always embraced and been involved with the arts in some form.
After completing her schooling at a private girls college in Melbourne, she worked in Australia and internationally for over 15 years as a model, returning to complete a BA degree and embark on post-graduate studies.
The following 15 years she spent as creative director for the music company (Zav Pty Ltd) of her internationally famous composer/pianist husband, using her artistic talents for cover designs, brochures and media releases.
In 1996, Christine was the author of the children’s book “From Angels With Love” – published by Lothian Books and illustrated by renowned artist Mirka Mora.
A course in Commercial Art led Christine Zavod to art classes with the Malvern Arts Society and classes run by the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne.
Since 2006, Christine has studied under Jenny Phillips at the Botanical Art School of Melbourne. Christine’s recent published botanical illustrations include artwork for: “The National Trust Diary“; The Government House Florilegium“; “The Genome Generation“; “Aphrodisiac Adventures“; along with other private commissions. Christine also sells reprints of her artwork on scarves, cards, tea towels, table runners, placemats, coasters, cushion covers, etc.
In Nov 2016, Christine lost her husband to brain cancer after 30 years of happy marriage. She is very pleased to say his music legacy lives on: With his last major Orchestral work “The Environmental Symphony” performed initially in Europe and in America, and recently at the United Nations Assembly in New York, and his on-line music lesson series to become available in 2024.
To honor his love of musical education, there are three Annual Student Awards in his name, thanks to wonderful Patrons who value keeping Allan’s genius to the world: the Dr. Allan Zavod Composition Award with the University of Melbourne (patron: The Finkel Foundation); and the Dr. Allan Zavod Performers Award at Monash University (patron: Mr. Brendan O’Brien); and the Dr. Allan Zavod Jazz Prize at Brighton Grammar College (patron: Mr John Redhead).
On 26 Jan 2017, Christine and her son Zak accepted Dr. Allan Zavod’s Order of Australia (OAM) award from the Governor of Victoria: Linda Dessau. Zak Zavod is also involved with his father’s legacy in several ways. One of which is being one of the judges for the Dr. Allan Zavod Performers Award at Monash University.
Christine begins the next chapter in her life this year working on a new art book about critically endangered flora and fauna. She also is celebrating becoming engaged and looking forward to new beginnings.

Christine’s experience in psychology helped her teach her son Zak, while he was growing up, the spiritual and moral concepts expressed in “From Angels with Love“. Christine believes that learning the meaning of love is life’s most important lesson.
